Blackberry Smashbull

Probably our favorite Bucking Bull cocktail here on the ranch. We do all our cocktails old school, but bring a little something new to keep them up to date. With the Blackberry Smashbull, it’s the brown sugar, max blackberries and extra lime juice.
Here’s what you need (makes one drink):

  • 2 ounces Bucking Bull Bourbon
  • 3 lime wedges squeezed (1/3 ounce fresh lime juice)
  • 6 mint leaves
  • 8 blackberries
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1-ounce club soda
  • ½ cup crushed ice

Here’s what you do:
Combine lime wedges, mint leaves, and blackberries, then muddle to your heart’s content. Add Bucking Bull, brown sugar and ice, then shake for 15 seconds. Strain and pour the Smash into a classic rocks glass. Stir then garnish with a mint leaf and a blackberry (for a different twist you might try a cinnamon stick instead). Smashing!

Horny Mule

Kentucky ain’t got nuthin’ on us! On the ranch here we’ve nicknamed our take on the Kentucky Mule the “Bourbon Bulle.”
What you need:

  • 1 1/2 ounces Bucking Bull Bourbon
  • 1 ounce Grand Marnier
  • 1/2 ounce lemon juice
  • Lemon twist
  • Brown sugar

What you do:
Add the Bucking Bull and lime juice to a heavy, short rocks glass. Fill it with crushed ice and top with ginger beer. All the way. Garnish with a pinch of nutmeg. You’ll feel it!

Bullevardier

The perfect pre-dinner, pre-gaming cocktail! An American twist on the Negroni, of course, and down here on the ranch we twist it a little further! In this case, holding at 1 and ½ ounces of Bucking Bull, because at 100 proof it stands up just fine to the Campari and vermouth. Squeezing the black cherry and soaking it yields a perfect sweet aftertaste.

▸ 1 1/2 ounces Bucking Bull Bourbon
▸ 1 ounce Campari
▸ 1 ounce sweet vermouth
▸ Garnish: black cherry

Pour ingredients into a mixing glass and fill with cracked ice. Stir well for 20 seconds and strain into a chilled coupe glass. Garnish with the black cherry (squeeze and soak into the cocktail).

Sour Bull

Our take on the classic whiskey sour, in this case a little more Bucking Bull at 100 proof, combining with the maple syrup instead of simple syrup gives a stronger flavor without being harsh. Man, those egg whites! It’s not a sour without them!

  • 2 ounces Bucking Bull Bourbon
  • ¾ oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • ¾ oz maple syrup
  • ½ ounce of egg whites
  • Garnish: Angostura bitters

Add Bucking Bull, lemon juice, maple syrup and egg whites to a shaker and dry-shake for 30 seconds without ice. Add ice cubes and shake again until frosty! Strain into a coupe cocktail glass. Garnish with 3 or 4 drops of Angostura bitters.

Bull Run

Think of the bull running along the tracks- just like a sidecar! We make it our own special way of course, by treating you to a little brown sugar and importing the Grand!
Start running:

  • 1 1/2 ounces Bucking Bull Bourbon
  • 1 ounce Grand Marnier
  • 1/2 ounce lemon juice
  • Lemon twist
  • Brown sugar

Keep up:
Brown sugar the rim of your martini glass, then combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake it up! Strain into your martini glass and garnish with a lemon twist. Running with the Bull!

Bloody Bull Fashioned

Bucking Bull Bourbon the old-fashioned way–only we’ve updated and strengthened this classic by doing it the old school way, and adding a muddled blood orange rind to the mix.
Make sure you have:

  • 2 ounces Bucking Bull Bourbon
  • 1 white sugar cube
  • Angostura Bitters
  • 1 wedge-sized Blood Orange rind

Then do this:
Mix it right up in a good old fashioned cocktail glass. Shake 4 dashes of the bitters on the sugar cube, then muddle it with ½ teaspoon water. Add the blood orange rind and muddle again. Don’t worry if it doesn’t dissolve all the way. Next, add the Bucking Bull, then add a single large, clear ice cube and a blood orange peel for garnish. Bloody good!
