The Inspiration for Bucking Bull Bourbon
If you had seen him bucking, spinning and jumping around the fields as a little boy you knew he was destined to be the best ever. His enthusiasm for bucking was contagious! We bought him right away for a mere $5,000 knowing he would rule the PBR one day. Sadly, it was not to be; Hardheaded’s problem was that he could not be contained!
In the video (7 years ago) watch how he launches like a cruise missile out of the gate 20’ into the air and across the dirt and then bucks and spins like the wildest of creatures, scaring the pants off his trainers and handlers.
Unfortunately, this doesn’t work for the PBR; they need a bull who can do its thing inside a 20’ circle. Not Hardheaded – he hit the ring like he was out in the fields as a little boy.
I’ll buck the way I want, Dammit! He was too dangerous. Only 800 lbs. in this video. Imagine him at 1,500! Today, though he’s not destroying the PBR, he’s living out his great life on the Bucking Bull Ranch. All 1,800 lbs. of him!
An attitude for life
But that Hard-headed spirit is what Bucking Bull Bourbon is all about – guts, grit, get out there and do it, give it your all, be bullish and everything else be damned!

Down here on the Bucking Bull Ranch we love to get out and get after it- action sports and activities are what we do for fun, and our personal favorite action sport is bull riding. It takes a little bit of crazy to get on the back of one of today’s Bucking Beasts, as they are bred to buck, jump, stomp and spin to do their best to knock you up, off and onto your ass. Bulls today are just as much athletes as those who climb on their backs – and we admire both. No matter what country, what age, male or female. We salute you!
When we’re not drinking bourbon and watching the PBR, we’re out shooting, dirt biking, car racing, speedboating, jumping out of planes, mountain biking, heli-skiing. Our family combined covers the spectrum. We celebrate it.
